#413 Todd & Teddy Bear

Todd & Teddy Pattern #415 is a 24" tall soft-sculpture crochet doll pattern. Todd can suck his thumb, has cute little buns under his drop flap, individual fingers, a bear applique on his p. j.’s and a separate teddy bear.

Todd and Candice are Kathleen’s first brother and sister dolls based on the personalities of two of her own children. If you haven’t tried soft-sculpture before, these are great beginner patterns. They were Kathleen’s transition patterns from flatwork to three-dimensional crocheting in rounds.

Because of frequent hospitalizations following a severe head injury at age two, Todd was always in pajamas. The flap was left open allowing the nurses to connect him to a monitor. He spent so much time alone in ICU that his little teddy became his cherished companion. Kathleen has captured her son at that moment in time, cute buns and all! Hard to resist, easy to love, let him sleep over at your house and become your child’s cherished companion.

Although collector quality, Todd is designed for childsplay. Don't let Todd's detail fool you, he is a wonderful "favorite friend" or bedtime doll. Kathleen's personalized dolls become a cherished saved toy when made by Mommy or Grandma,  but makes a great collector doll for any doll enthusiast. You don't have to be a skilled dollmaker to create one of these heirloom dolls. As with all Kathleen Early patterns, Todd is made using simple, well-known stitches, uniquely combined.
